It's Talking Time! Here's a Video On Issue Three!
Been trying to get this video out for a couple weeks. I decided to not put random movements on the panels to make them easier to look at and read. Let me know what you guys think.
I'm currently wrapping up issue three. I'm still proofing, making corrections and working on the letter column. Normally this is a fast process but I have a) unfinished stuff to promote issue one I need to do b) I have to get issue two ready for early release c) I have a con on Saturday and d) I've got to get ready to work on issue four. I'm doing all this at the same time. It's kinda crazy but I should knock all of it out in the next week or so.

Inking page 10...Final Battle Go!
So I'm currently inking page ten of issue three between a bunch of stuff I'm trying to square away for the release of issue one (currently on sale now). I'm running behind, but it should be no problem coloring it Wednesday and finishing the page Thursday so I can get back on schedule.
It's the climatic final page of the battle...so there's not much I can show you but whatever happens certainly seems to make Psychoboy happy...

Coloring Page Nine...Kilimari in Red
Page nine is inked and I'm coloring it tonight. It's been a busy weekend with work and some shopping at a toy fair, but I should be able to finish up the page later in the week right on schedule.

Inking Page Seven! Let the Sparks Fly!
Inks on page seven have begun. I'm over halfway done with issue three! And I can now mark off "Monster hits hero in chest and sparks fly" off my Power Ranger cliché checklist.

Page Six Colored! Launch Hair Missiles!
Man, those are some pretty colors. Page six is colored. I'll probably have to wait til later in the week before I get a chance to letter it. Till then, enjoy a brightly colored man-eating giant fish monster and hair missile explosions. Godzilla eat your heart out.

Title Page Ready! Sing Along Kids!
The title page is done! Commentary is below...
This isn't quite as much work as a story page but it comes pretty damn close. It was put together piecemeal, but laid out on paper to make sure it could work before I even created the file.
We start with the world's laziest show narrator. Opening narration giving you a summary of what you were about to watch was the way Power Rangers originally opened when it aired. "Today on Power Rangers..." became as synonymous with the show as them yelling "It's morphing time!" It kinda sucks that it's not on the Netflix version of the episodes. There's no substitute for actually being there, kids.
Anyway, since they showed footage from the episode as the narrator did the introduction, I pulled an unlettered image from the first page for the first panel here.
The rest is basically just imitating the show's opening, complete with theme song. If you've never seen it, search YouTube for "Power Rangers opening." You'll have more fun with this page if you can sing along.
I suppose one thing worth noting is that this is the only appearance of Lavender Ranger's weapon: the Chainsaw of Justice. Again, I think we need to petition Bandai to make it. Laser guns are bad influences on kids, so wouldn't we much rather have them play with brightly colored toy chainsaws instead?
So next up with be more Lavender Ranger with page three and the cover!

Page Two Ready! Stickboy Morphs!!!
Alright so here's page two for issue three with commentary below.
This is possibly my favorite page I've done for a comic.
Panel 1- The morphing sequence is pretty much straight from the show. The terms are changed (from morphing to transmorphing) since this is a parody and they're Super Rangers and not literally Power Rangers. The pose is taken directly from the show and makes even Stickboy look bad ass, though God knows how he's keeping a morpher in the back of his swim trunks.
Panel 2- I love this panel. I LOVE lightening effects. They look great here. The show basically has a ton of lightening around them that covers everything but their arms, head and the morpher. Here I interpreted it as coming out of the transmorpher.
Panel 3- While the original Power Rangers just showed the scene in panel two and cut to the ranger morphed, I didn't know if this would be clear to the reader. I added an in-between scene to attempt to show the actual transformation into the ranger.
Panel 4- Monsters aren't only ones making terrible puns. The striking a pose and saying a line is, of course, a Ranger tradition. And Power Rangers just wouldn't be complete without the sound effects when they swing their arms.
Panel 5- Here's Psychoboy teleporting in. I didn't think the teleporting effect on the show would translate well into comics so I created my own and I think it looks pretty cool.
So next up, page three and...Lavender Ranger!

Page Two Inks...Ready! Karate Chop Greetings!
Inks for page two are done. Here's the bottom half of the page. I'll be coloring it later today. And remember to always do a random martial move when you introduce yourself. It just looks cooler that way.

It's Inking Time...for Page Two! Deploy the Belt Buckle of Power!
Got page two halfway inked. Instead of inking the lightening I'm going to color it with no lines to try to create a glowing effect (I hope!). I'll be inking the rest today, hopefully before my assignment tonight.

Page One Ready! Giant Monsters Making Terrible Puns!
Page one is done! Here's the page with some quick commentary below...
Panel one- This is essentially the opening of the TV episode, complete with episode title. Again I'm able to at least give lip service to the fact that Stickboy's in college. I love all the stuff I've loaded him down with. Note the Chiggy life preserver. I think I'll be sneaking Chiggy into every issue in some form.
Panel two- Our two fleeing pedestrains here are inspired by Bulk and Skull, the comedy duo of Power Rangers. There was no characters in existance that were more fitting to run past Stickboy.
Panel three- "Aw, man" was a line that kept coming up in early seasons of Power Rangers (kind of like "I have a bad feeling about this" for Star Wars) so I had to work it in there somewhere.
Page four- Love Stickboy's dialog here and, yes, brace yourself for more terrible puns, this is a Power Rangers parody afterall. A little inside joke with the principal and the school resource officer from issue one at the beach together here. They do make a lovely couple.
So my first completely new story page in 13 years is done! Onto page two!

It's Coloring Time...For Page One!
So I didn't finish coloring page one last night but I got pretty darn close. Won't have time to touch it again before Wednesday, but it shouldn't take long to wrap up the page. Until then enjoy the warmth of my cartoon sun. :)

It's Inking Time! Page One Inks Done!
Page one's digital inks are done! I'll start on the colors later today after I take a chore break. Not sure how much more I got in me today, but we'll find out.

Issue 3 Pencils Done...The Crying Cyclops Weeps For You
The last page of pencils is done. It's mainly a verbal gag with so most of it is Stickboy and Psychoboy standing there talking.
And there's this panel awesome panel...
It was a ton of fun to draw. I just drew parodies of the early Power Rangers monsters off the top of my head, all looking as sad as possible. My favorite part...they made the cyclops cry!
So the pencils of the first story I've drawn in 13 years is done! Tomorrow I'll switch gears and begin the digital inking, coloring and lettering for each page!

Page 11 Pencils...Hey, It's The "Out Of Costume Talking Scene" At The End!
Page 11 pencils...ready! So it's the final page of the main story. It's a tradition for Power Rangers (and a lot of other action shows) to have their characters in civilian attire just hanging out and talking in the final scene. It's familiar territory for College Follies, so it was pretty effortless to draw. Below is a cropped sample of the page, since showing you where they are or what they're doing would spoil the ending.
So pencils for the 11 page story are done. Now on to page 12! Yeah, that's right, there's a one page gag left to draw, because what parody of an old kids show is complete without a public service announcement at the end?
